Pr. Benedict Baroi, a Seventh - day Adventist pastor once traveled from Dhaka, the capital city of Bangladesh to a mission field area called Konabari. Konabari is about 25 kilometers away from Dhaka. He, being the head pastor of a Dhaka church and a district pastor for the area went there to resolve a church issue. Pr. Benedict thought that he would be able to sit with the church members and local church pastor at Konabari at around 6.pm and will be done with the issue very soon to return home. The last bus from Konabari leaves at around 8.pm; therefore Pr. Benedict had to have the meeting as soon as possible. But unfortunately another issue came up from Christian Bahumukhi Sammittee that Pr. Benedict was late to start his meeting and therefore late to finish it too. By the time, he was done with the meeting it was already 8.30pm thus he couldn’t get the last bus from Konabari. But somehow he managed to find some other bus and started his journey towards Dhaka along with another church member. But the unfortunate thing happened again, when the bus arrived in Ashulia, a middle point between Dhaka and Konabari, the bus wouldn’t go further. The bus contractor announced that the passengers have to get down there and find another transportation to go to Dhaka. By this time, it was almost 9.pm. Pr. Benedict and his friend was helpless and in trouble. Pr. Benedict asked how they would travel back to their home without any transportation. And as they were thinking, Pr. Benedict and his friend started walking. As they kept walking, in a few minutes time a micro-car stopped in front of them and asked if they wanted a lift. Pr. Benedict told the driver that they were to go to Mirpur, a place near their home. The car driver nodded that they were going to Mirpur too. Pr. Benedict and His friend without much thought got into the car. As Pr. Benedict got into the car, he saw two more people sitting in the front seat, one lady and a man. Within a short time, Pr. Benedict came to know that the man and the woman were husband and wife. The lady was young and the man was in his middle age. Pr. Benedict looked around and saw a couple of more guys there, he thought to himself ‘ These other two guys doesn’t seems good, they seem like the dacoits’ But he pacified himself saying that since there were other people traveling with them so probably there is nothing wrong. He kept his curiosity suppressed for a while not knowing that in a few minutes his fear is to become a real one. As the car moved forward, in about 9-10 minutes time, the other two guys at the back seat announced that they were the dacoits and that every passenger in the car is to keep quiet or else will be killed. The dacoits started searching everything that the passengers were carrying. They even searched everyone from head to toe to check whether any money was kept hidden anywhere in the dress. They checked the bags Pr. Benedict was carrying. They found some money in the bag, they took it. Then they took the mobile phone that Pr. Benedict was carrying and took that too. Later on they removed all the ornament the young lady was wearing and took them all. Searched the other passenger and took them all that they have had. The dacoits warned the passengers that if anyone makes any sound or noise, they would be killed and thrown out of the car. Pr. Benedict being a minister of God have had the courage from God. He with all of courage told the dacoits that he was a Seventh - day Adventist church pastor, thinking that the dacoits may not understand who a pastor is, he explained that a pastor was like an imam for Muslim and that he had just finished one of his prayer meeting and was returning home. It appeared to Pr. Benedict that his words caught the attention of the dacoits. Pr. Benedict requested that if they would return his mobile phone that they have taken because that was a old one and many of his important contact number was there. For sometime he had no reply from them. The dacoits took the car to some dark area that none of the passengers knew. Pr. Benedict and his friends knew nothing as to where they were going. Pr. Benedict prayed to God that he will intervene and save them. A few minutes later the dacoits told everyone in the car that since everyone was so co-operative and did not create any fuss that’s the reason they are not going to kill anyone but leave them. The dacoits told them that they each passenger is to get down now but remain at the same place till the dacoits leave and then everyone can leave the place. Pr. Benedict along with his friends and other passenger got down. To his amazement Pr. Benefit found that the dacoits gave him his mobile back and a hundred taka. Pr. Benedict thought that his prayers were answered. All of them stood in a dark passage till the dacoits leave. Once the dacoits left, the couple and the Pr. Benedict with His friend started moving towards their own direction. Pastor Benedict couldn’t believe that no harm was done to him or any other passengers along with him. He couldn’t believe that his mobile was returned and that a hundred taka was given back to him so that he can return home with his friend. Yes, he had lost some money but that wasn’t significant. He had some more money in his bag that was a field worker’s salary but it was left untouched because the robbers couldn’t find it. At around 12 am at night, Pr. Benedict and his friend returned to their home somehow, tired, exhausted but without any injuries. His family members were worried and when they were told about what happened on the way, they were shocked. His son rebuked him for traveling such late at night. Probably they couldn’t see that a Pastor’s greatest security is given by God. Pr. Benedict shared this amazing story of living miracle during his sermon in one of the company church at Dhaka. He couldn’t keep this within himself for God has saved his life. And I couldn’t keep it within me without writing this for you, for I am convinced of what God can do. Is God still working today? Can he still save His people? Can He hear the cry of the trouble soul? Can He still help us in the time of Need? Overall Does God still exist? If you have any doubt about God, read this story repeatedly, look around, evaluate your own life till you get it ingrained in you that God does exist and He is still able to see and save. No Dacoits or robbers, No problems are too great to God to solve.
